Idle Hands Not Allowed

oliviacarseat03The bathroom is finally open for business again. Last Sunday I tore out the toilet and removed the step to tub along with the nasty tiles. Turns out the previous owners added the step in later by taking some bricks from the backyard and slapped them down with some mortar, then tiled them over. It was quite the adventure tearing them out. So the floor is finally tiled and grouted and, I must say, I think I did a great job. We now have a toilet that doesn't rock when you get up off it (I re-anchored the flange to the concrete), we installed new light fixtures, took out the heater to put a center light, and now are looking to redo the floors of the rest of the house in laminate wood. This weekend we're finishing up the paint in the bathroom. It's been hectic around here to say the least. There's always Halloween looming over our heads too. Between the new floors, taxes, hospital bills, and normal expenses, we're pretty tight here lately but it has been exciting. Having new projects always makes me a bit giddy and there's no lack of them these days. My fingers are cut and blistered up, my back aches, and I just stopped hearing the dull ringing in my ears from the wet saw yesterday. I feel terrific though.

We went out to Marcel's School awards today and watched our little man rack em up. He was on the stage twice and earned us another sticker to put on our truck. He's doing incredible in school and I can't help but brag on him. He's such a smart kiddo and has taken to reading like a fish to water. His favorite thing happens to be Calvin and Hobbs and my old comics. I think I'll take him on a trip to Half Price Books and Nan's this weekend as a treat for doing so well in school. ;)
Well, I'm off to hang with my crew and play a game I think.

Oh, I did get around to posting new pictures finally Laura. I've been clicking away with the camera but I just don't get the opportunity to upload them that often. There's a bunch of new ones so go take a look!
