Into the New

oliviainyellow02
So Christmas is over and it's a now officially 2009. We've been staying pretty busy around here. Between my usual full schedule of daily tasks, Lana working her ass off, and the kids, we don't really relax until around eleven in the evening. That's when the kids are both in bed and we melt into the couches, watching Bernie Mac and listening to 'Livie on the baby monitor.
Yup, we moved her crib out of our bedroom. Seems a little weird to me still but I'm growing used to it. I'm sure some parents out there can't relate being that they never setup a crib in their bedroom but it was hard enough putting her in a crib for us.

It was really comforting to have her in the room. Since I'm such a light sleeper, I wake up often in the middle of the night. Before crawling back in bed I would check on her. I would adjust her blanket, rest my hand on her back for a few moments, and get back in bed. Now it's a marathon to check on her from something other than the baby monitor. I have to hurdle the baby gates (two of them), go up the stairs (watch out for the toys), open the door quietly as possible (creaky damn door), and peek in on Marcel's room before heading back down to make the long track back. When your half asleep it feels like twice the distance. It was time though.

Hell, Marcel slept in the bed with us for the longest time so having a crib was a severe change. Now we listen to her hum, talk, and play on the baby monitor. It's nice, but definitely different. They grow up way too damn fast.

New year resolutions? Just a few...
  • Take better pictures
  • Take a few classes (photography, art and a cake class or two with Lana)
  • Be more aware of my health (eat less crap and eat a little healthier)
  • Have Fun!
  • Read outside my box now and then
  • Post more often?
So there they are. I've already started on some of them so we'll see how the rest go. Well, I still have a little time left between loads of luandry, "Livie's still napping and Marcel is at a friend's house so I'm going to go read for a while! Oh, for you sci-fi junkies I just finished a great trilogy. It's the Old Man's War series by John Scalzi. All three were really good reads! Now I'm off to read more from The Cat's Pajamas.
